PEAKLIFE Women Inspire: Akanksha Lamba on Redefining Boutique Hospitality

Through thoughtful curation and hyper-local storytelling, she helps shape The Postcard Hotel’s distinctive approach to luxury travel.

1. Looking back, how would you describe your journey so far, and how has it shaped the leader you are today?

My journey has been one of intentional building of brands, of teams, and of experiences that endure. Hospitality taught me early that excellence is never accidental. It is designed with care, discipline, and empathy. Building The Postcard Hotel strengthened my belief that leadership is less about authority and more about responsibility. Responsibility to people, to purpose, and to the promise you make. I lead today with quiet conviction, clarity of vision, and deep respect for people who make that vision possible.

2. What has been the biggest challenge in your journey, and how did you push through it?

The hardest phase was choosing to begin an entrepreneurial journey from a place of professional comfort and certainty. You know, stepping away from stability to build something unconventional in an industry that often rewards expansion over essence, um, required both courage and conviction. Choosing to remain boutique, design-led, and experience-first meant resisting easier growth paths. There were moments of uncertainty, of course, uh, but clarity of purpose became my anchor. I learned to trust long-term value over short-term validation and to keep moving forward with patience, uh, data, and belief in the idea.

3. Was there a pivotal turning point in your career, a decision or a moment that truly changed the trajectory of your own path as an entrepreneur?

Yes, the decision to build a brand rooted in soul rather than scale reframed success for me. Instead of asking how big we can become, I began asking how meaningful we can be? That shift shaped every strategic choice thereafter, from locations to team culture to guest journeys.

4. What is one moment in your journey, professional or personal, that makes you pause and feel truly proud?

Seeing teams grow into leaders gives me the deepest sense of pride. When people you have mentored begin shaping culture, making bold decisions, and nurturing others, that is legacy in motion. Institutions matter, but people are what endure.

5. What advice would you give to women who are building their careers?

Own your ambition. Competence builds credibility, consistency builds trust, and courage builds opportunity. Also, preparation is your greatest ally. Invest in your craft, your voice, and your financial independence.

6. How are you consciously giving back to the next generation — especially young women — through mentorship, leadership, or the ecosystem you’re building?

By building ecosystems where merit, respect, and growth are non-negotiable. I actively mentor emerging leaders, um, create pathways for women to step into decision-making roles, and foster workplaces where diverse leadership is normal, not notable; true inclusion is structural, not symbolic.

7. What excites you most about the future, personally & professionally, and the impact you hope to continue creating?

Professionally, about redefining luxury through authenticity and design sensitivity. Crafting spaces that endure and draw people back through genuine connection. Personally, about mentoring more leaders and building environments where excellence and empathy coexist.

8. What is your success mantra?

Build with intention, lead with empathy, and execute with discipline.
